The first time I sat in a fantasy draft room and watched the second round unfold backwards, the commissioner just said "that's the snake" and moved on like it was obvious. It wasn't. A standard snake draft has a known flaw: pick 1.01 still has a small but measurable edge over pick 1.12 in long-run equity, because the snake only corrects round 2. Pick 1.01 still picks ahead of pick 1.12 in rounds 3, 5, 7, and every odd-numbered round thereafter. The 3rd-round reversal, abbreviated 3RR, fixes that by flipping round 3 too. Under 3RR, pick 1.12 picks first in round 3, and the snake resumes from there.
